Interesting to learn of Lonnie Smith's comments about wanting to stay in St. Louis, given what happens later in the season. (Hope I'm not spoiling it for anyone.)
Definitely. I don't know if the writer misconstrued his words but Smith basically said his old team was having fun without him and he didn't like AL pitchers because they wouldn't challenge him with fastballs. Of course, he'd been supplanted by Vince Coleman in LF so I don't know that he really wanted to still be a Cardinal. And he was struggling to adjust to the AL, so probably some frustration talking there.
